1. Internet Configuration

This chapter describes how to configure your N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router

DGN2200M Mobile Edition Internet connection. For help with installation, see the N300 Wireless

When your internet connection is working you do not need to launch the isp s login program on your computer to access the internet when you start an internet application your wireless modem router automatically logs you in 24

Netgear recommends that you use the setup wizard to automatically detect and configure your adsl settings this usually works fine however if you have technical experience and are sure of the multiplexing method and virtual circuit number for the virtual path identifier vpi and virtual channel identifier vci you can specify those settings here 25

The wireless modem router logs security related events such as denied incoming service requests hacker probes and administrator logins if you enable content filtering in the block sites screen the logs screen show you when someone on your network tries to access a blocked site if you enable email notification you will receive these logs in an email message 47
To view the log under content filtering select logs a screen similar to the following displays 47

You can write the logs to a computer running a syslog program to activate this feature select broadcast on lan or enter the ip address of the server where the syslog file will be written 47

By default the wireless modem router functions as a dynamic host configuration protocol dhcp server allowing it to assign ip dns server and default gateway addresses to all computers connected to the wireless modem router s lan the assigned default gateway address is the lan address of the router ip addresses are assigned to the attached computers from a pool of addresses specified in this screen each pool address is tested before it is assigned to avoid duplicate addresses on the lan 80
