8 Maintenance
8.1 Maintenance during operation
Pay attention to calm and vibration-free operation.
Check the mechanical seal for possible leaks.
Check the static seals for possible leaks.
Check running noises in the bearing. Risk of wear.
Check the function of additional connections.
Guarantee operational readiness of reserve pumps. Operate them once a week.
8.2 Maintenance work
NOTICE
Before maintenance work, close all shut-off valves and drain all pipes.
When? What?
Regularly Check screw connections.
Check lubrication.
Check operating noises.
If there is a chance of frost Close pump valves.
Drain pump and pipes sensitive to frost in good time.
Remove plugs from the pump.
After completing all maintenance work, perform all necessary measures for start-up. See point 6.1 on
page 21.

8.3 Lubrication
The bearings are lubricated in the factory using high quality lithium-saponified grease.
8.3.1 Refill times
The anti-friction bearings have to be lubricated again at regular intervals.
NOTICE
If there is no grease nipple on the bearing brackets, anti-friction bearings which are lubricated for
life are used instead.
For short refill times lubricate again once a year.
For normal refill times lubricate again once every two years.
To do so remove the anti-friction bearings, clean them and refill them with grease.
The intervals for repeat lubrication depend on the pump size and speed. Motors with grease nipples have
to be lubricated again after 2000 hours of operation. The 2000 hours are reduced if environmental
conditions such as vibration, dust or high temperatures occur.
8.3.2 Grease qualities
– High temperature grease based on lithium soap
– Acid and resin free
– Must not become brittle
– Rust protection
– Temperature resistant from -30 °C to 160 °C
