BASIC OPERATION 3 Receive and transmit O Volume switches The VOL switches can be used to adjust the audio output at CAUTION Transmitting without an antenna may dam any time The audio output can be adjusted over 17 discrete levels push the VOL switches momentarily to increment age the transceiver or decrement to volume in single steps or push and hold the Push POWER for 2 sec to turn power ON 2 While pushing MONI rotate DIAL to set the audio output level Rotate SQL to set the point where audio noise is just VOL switches to continuously change the volume VOL and the audio output bar appear while pushing one of the VOL switches Push to increase the volume muted Max audio VOL Set an operating frequency When a signal is received 0OSMSIIIOO Push to decrease the volume Squelch opens and audio is emitted from the speaker The S RF indicator shows the relative signal strength Audio muted VOL no segments appear Push and hold PTT to transmit then speak into the mic Do not hold the microphone too close to your mouth or speak too loudly This may distort the signal The TX RX indicator lights red The S RF indicator shows the output power selection Release PTT to return to receive CONVENIENT Using the DIAL While pushing MONI audio can be ad justed with DIAL O Output power selection Push H L to toggle the output power level between high and CONVENIENT Monitor function low Push and hold MONI to listen to weak signals without disturbing the squelch setting RX indicator The green LED lights when receiving a signal or when squelch opens However it can be turned OFF to conserve battery power p 35 LOW appears when low output power is selected POWER SELECTION HIGH LOW S RF INDICATOR oeeeosMOB LOW 0 5 0 W 500 mW 14
