7 33 CHASSIS 5 Remove the brake hose joint mounting bolt 6 Disconnect the meter coupler 7 Remove the steering stem head nut 8 Remove the speedometer cable 9 Remove the upper bracket along with the combination meter 10 Remove the steering stem nut with the special tool 09940 14911 Steering stem nut wrench 11 Draw out the steering stem lower bracket NOTE Hold the steering stem lower bracket by hand to prevent it from falling 12 Remove the steering stem upper bearing INSPECTION Inspect the removed parts for the following abnormalities Handlebar distortion Handlebar clamp wear Race wear and brinelling Bearing wear or damage Abnormal noise of bearing Distortion of steering stem DISASSEMBLY 1 Remove the steering stem upper bearing 2 Remove the steering stem lower bearing by using the spe cial tool 09941 84510 Bearing remover CAUTION The removed bearing should be replaced with a new one
