Application options
The following sections provide tips on using the three different
vacuuming modes with their respective applications. This can be viewed
as a supplement to the operating manual. In all cases, observe the
operating instructions.
Dry vacuuming
Dry vacuuming with your THOMAS TWIN XT is done in a similar way as
a conventional vacuum cleaner. With one difference: the dust is bound
within a water filter.
Use a suitable nozzle from among the accessories according to the
particular application:

Spray extraction (shampooing)
With your THOMAS TWIN XT, you can perform intensive cleaning of
carpets, upholstery and hard floors using the spray extraction cleaning
function.
In this single process, a cleaning solution under pressure is sprayed deep,
dirt is dissolved and washed out of the fibres and the waste water is
suctioned away.
Use a suitable nozzle from among the accessories according to the
particular application:

Ensure that everything you intend to wet-clean is suitable for this
procedure. Never wet-clean fine, hand-woven or non-colour-fast carpets
or parquet and laminate floors. Follow the care instructions of the
manufacturer of the object to be cleaned.
To check the colour-fastness of carpets you wish to clean by pouring
some cleaning solution on a white cotton cloth and rubbing this on a
small, normally hidden area of the carpet. If the cloth shows no traces
of colour, colour-fastness can be assumed. If some colour appears on the
cloth, the carpet should not be wet-cleaned. In case of doubt, consult a
carpet specialist.
Proceed as follows to achieve a uniform cleaning:
Vacuuming and

Dissolving and washing out
• Press the spray lever until cleaning fluid comes out and pull the
flatly laid carpet/hard floor spray nozzle in straight strokes across
the floor surface.
• At the end of each stroke or for interruptions, release the spray lever
to stop the spray jet.
• Vacuum up the sprayed fluid by again pulling the flatly laid carpet/
hard floor spray nozzle in straight strokes across the previously
sprayed floor surface.
• When the sprayed fluid has been vacuumed up, begin a new stroke
that slightly overlaps the previous one. Proceed in this manner stroke
by stroke until the entire surface has been treated.
Should traces of fluid remain on the cleaned areas, you can vacuum these
spots again without spraying.
For heavily soiled spots, you can apply the cleaning fluid while in the
forward movement of the floor spray nozzle. A pretreatment can also be
performed by only putting the pump into operation.
Take care not to spray too much fluid, since this could cause mounds or
bumps to form, which would only recede after a lengthy drying process.
If the carpet has been shampooed before, using the THOMAS TWIN XT for
the first time may result in a greater amount of foam being generated in
the waste water container. In this case, add a half cup of vinegar to the
waste water container to avoid further foam formation.
If foam should exude from the air outlet, switch off the unit immediately
and empty the waste water container.
Increased foam formation is prevented from occurring after initial
thorough cleaning using THOMAS cleaning concentrate, which contains
a special foam-stopping agent.
As long as the carpet is still damp, you should avoid treading on it.
During cleaning and afterwards, the room should be well ventilated to
enable quick drying.
The waste water container holds a volume of 1.9 litres. If exceeded, the
electrical float switch shut-off triggers and the waste water container
must be emptied before vacuuming can continue.
Wet vacuum operation
With your THOMAS TWIN XT you can vacuum up spilled non-hazardous
fluids that are water-based (e.g. water, juice, coffee or similar liquids).
Use a suitable nozzle from among the accessories according to the
particular application:

The vacuuming procedure is done similarly to shampooing.
