CHASSIS 6 18 REMOVAL I Remove the lower fairing assembly middle fairings and removing the upper fairing assembly 2 Support the motorcycle with a jack or wooden block 3 Remove the front wheel 4 Remove the front forks and steering damper 5 Remove the left and right handlebars by handlebar holder mounting holts and nuts 6 Remove the speedometer tachomuter bracket mounting bolts 7 Disconnect the meter lead wire couplei and remove the disconnecting the meter assembly 8 Remove the steering stem head nut 9 Remove the steering stem head by ignition switch lead wire coupler 10 Remove the brake hose joint mounting holt i I l Remove the steering stem nut 0 by using the special tool then remove the steering stem lower bracket 09940 14911 Steering stem nut wronch MOTE Hold the Steering stem lower bracket by band to prevent it from falling DISASSEMBLY 1 Remove the steering stem upper bearing 2 Remove the steering stem lower bearing by using the special tools 09941 84510 Bearing remover CAUTION The removed bearing should be replaced 3 Drive out the steering stum bearing races by using the appropriate drift INSPECTION Inspect the removed parts for the following abnormalities Handlebar distortion Race wear and brinelling Bearing wear or damage Abnormal noise ol bearing Distortion of steering stem Oil leakage ol steering damper Heavy of steering damper operation upper and lower
