621 CHASSIS STEERING TENSION ADJUSTMENT Check the steering movement in the following procedure Remove the lower fairing assembly By using jacks at two right and left positions on the frame down tubes lower straight portions lift the front wheel until it is Off the floor by 20 to 30 mm Remove the front side of steering damper mounting bolt Check to make sure that the cables and wire in the straight ahead one handlebar harnesses are properly routed Witfi the front spring scale shown in wheel special the tool figure on and read the stale hitch the end as grip graduation when the handlebar starts moving Do the same on the other grip end Initial force 200 500 grams 09940 92710 Spring scale If the initial force read on the scale when the handlebar starts turning is either too heavy ar too light adjust it till it satisfies the specification 1 First loosen the front fork upper clamp bolts and steering stem head nut and then adjust the steering slum nut by loosening or tightening it 2 Tighten torque the and head re check nut and the clamp initial holts to with the force the specified spring scale according to the previously described procedure Tightening torque Stem head nut In 50 80 Nm 5 0 8 0 kg m 36 0 58 0 Ibft Front fork Upper clamp bolt 2 22 35 N m 2 2 3 5 kg m 16 0 25 5 Ib ft 3 If the initial force is found within the specified back and forth range adjustment has been completed WTf Hold the front fork leys move them sure that rhe steering is not loose Lower the jacks and install the lower fairing assembly and make
