WHEELS TIRES 8 5 Front Wheel Installation Notes Installation is the reverse of removal Install the collar on the left side of the hub Install the meter gear housing so that it fits in the meter gear drive notches Wheels Front Wheel Removal Using the jack stand special tool 57001 1238 under the frame and stabilize the motorcycle Place a stand or block under the engine so that the front wheel is raised off the ground Disconnect the meter cable lower end from the meter gear housing A Meter Gear Housing B Fit in the gear drive notches Fit the meter gear housing stop to the fork leg stop A Meter Cable B Meter Gear Housing Remove the axle nut pull out the axle and remove the wheel A Meter Gear Housing B Housing Stop C Fork Leg Stop Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque A Axle Nut B Collar Tightening Torque 88N m 9 0 kg m 65 ft fo CAUTION 0D0 not lay the wheel on the ground with the disc facing down This can damage or warp the disc Place blocks under the wheel so the disc does not touch the ground Insert a wood wedge between the disc brake pads this prevents them from being moved out of their proper position should the brake lever be squeezed accidentally Check the front brake for weak braking power and brake drag WARNING oDo not attempt to drive the motorcycle until a full brake lever is obtained by pumping the brake lever until the pads are against the disc The brake will not function on the first application of the lever if this is not done
