1.TurnthemainpowerswitchON.TheGracologo
willdisplayuntilcommunicationandinitialization
iscomplete.
2.Pressthe button.Verifythemachineis
in“WarmUp”state,andthatthetemperatures
areincreasing.Allowthesystemtoreachthe
“Ready”statebeforepumping.Thepumpwill
automaticallyturnon,ifautostartisenabledin
setupscreens,whenalltheheatzonesreach
theirsetpointtemperature.

Purgethesystembeforeinitialuseandwhen
chemicalsarechangedtopreventmaterial
contamination,whichmaycausethematerialto
failorperformpoorly.Thesystemwasfactory-
testedusingalightsolubleoil,asoybeanoil,or
someotheroilastagged.Flushthesystemto
avoidcontaminatingthematerialthathasbeen
designatedforinitialmaterialloading.
Useuidsthatarechemicallycompatiblewith
theequipmentwettedparts.SeeTechnical
Specicationsinalloftheequipmentmanuals.
1.Selectthematerialfortheinitialmaterialload.
2.Verifywhetherthefactory-testoilandtheinitial
materialloadarecompatible:
a.Ifthetwosubstancesarecompatibleomitthe
remainingstepsinthisprocedureandrefer
totheLoadMaterial,page29.
b.Ifthetwosubstancesareincompatible
performtheremainingstepsinthisprocedure
toushthesystem.
3.Selectapailofmaterialthatcaneliminatethe
factory-testoilfromthesystem.Ifnecessary,
checkwithGracoorthematerialsupplierfora
recommendedsolvent.
4.Beforepurgingbesuretheentiresystem
andwastepailareproperlygrounded.See
Grounding,page20.
5.Turnallheatzones’setpointtemperaturetothe
materialmanufacturer’srecommendeddispense
temperature,oraminimumof100°F(37°C)
minimum.
Note
Removeanydispensevalveorices
beforepurging.Reinstallafterpurging
hasbeencompleted.
6.Purgethematerialthroughthesystemfor
approximately1to2minutes.
