inputs on the rear panel
of Nord Modular to your patch. Two separate audio channels can be patched into the system. The input
meters indicate the level of the incoming signals. The 0dB indication on the module indicates the head-
room limit of the Nord Modular system. Signals above 0dB will cause the system to clip, causing distor-
tion.
It’s important that you amplify any input signals to line level externally to get good sound quality. If you
put in a too low signal and amplify it, using for example the Amplifter module, the sound quality won’t
be good. The reason for this is that the Amplifter module amplifies the signal digitally, and a low analog
input signal will result in low resolution. A low resolution signal that is digitally amplified will sound dis-
torted.

This module should be used when you want to route audio signals from the Poly Voice Area to the Com-
mon Voice Area. The PolyAreaIn module can only be used once, and only in the Common Voice Area
of the patch window. Since the PolyAreaIn module processes the sum of all voices from the Poly Voice
Area, the volume depends on the number of notes you play simultaneously. The input meters indicate
the level of the incoming signals. The 0dB indication on the module indicates the headroom limit of the
Nord Modular system. Signals above 0dB will cause the system to clip. If you feel the volume is too low,
click the ‘+6dB’ button to amplify the input signals by 6dB. (See an example of how to use the Poly and
Common Voice Areas in “Poly and Common Voice patch sections” on page 43.)
