Kohler Command PRO EFI ECH749 [141/180] Disassembly inspection and service
Remove Fuel Pump Module (ETB ECH EFI & ECH
EFI)
1. Remove screws securing fuel pump module to
baffl e.
2. If engine has a lift fuel pump, inlet fuel line should
have been removed from fuel pump, keeping it
attached at fuel pump module.
Do not cut Oetiker clamp unless fuel line or fuel
pump module are being replaced.
3. Disconnect yellow electrical connector by pulling up
on grey tab to release.
4. Wrap a shop towel completely around high pressure
fuel line connector.
5. Press release button(s) and slowly pull connector
away from fuel pump module, allowing shop towel to
absorb any residual fuel in high pressure fuel line.
Any spilled fuel must be completely wiped up
immediately.
6. Disconnect vent hose from top of fuel pump module.
Remove fuel pump module (with inlet fuel line) from
engine.
7. Remove screws securing fuel pump module baffl e;
remove baffl e.

1. Remove screws securing ECU to bracket.
2. Disconnect Black and Grey electrical connectors
from ECU.
Remove Electronic Control Unit Bracket and
Electric Starter Motor
1. Disconnect leads from starter.
2. Remove screw securing ECU bracket to blower
housing.

3. If equipped, remove screw securing rear starter bracket
to closure plate.
4. Remove screws securing ECU bracket and starter;
remove bracket and starter.
ETB ECH EFI engines with high output charging
system have black ground lead ring terminal and lock
washer on lower starter screw.

D Breather Tube
1. Disconnect breather tube from throttle body.
2. On earlier engines with separate intake air
temperature (IAT) and MAP sensors, disconnect IAT
sensor from throttle body.
3. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector.
4. Disconnect vent hose from throttle body.
