•Thecompressorshallbedirectelectricaldriven,withoutgeartransmissionbetweenthescrewandthe
electricalmotor.
•Thecompressorcasingshallbeprovidedwithportstorealizeeconomizedrefrigerantcycles.
•Theeconomizercycleshallbeprovidedwithelectronicexpansionvalve
• The unit shell be provided with two thermal protection realized by a thermistor for high temperature
protection: one temperature sensor to protect electrical motor and another sensor to protect unit and
lubricatingoilfromhighdischargegastemperature.
•Thecompressorshallbeequippedwithanelectricoil-crankcaseheater.
•Compressorshallbefullyfieldserviceable.Compressorthatmustberemovedandreturnedtothefactoryfor

•Unitcontrollogicshalltomanagefrequencylevelofthecompressorelectricmotortoexactlymatchplant
loadrequestinordertokeepconstantthesetpointfordeliveredchilledorhotwatertemperature.
•Themicroprocessorunitcontrolshalldetectconditionsthatapproachprotectivelimitsandtakeself
correctiveactionpriortoanalarmoccurring.Thesystemshallautomaticallyreducethechillercapacitywhen
anyofthefollowingparametersareoutsidetheirnormaloperatingrange:
-Highcondenserpressure
-LowevaporatingrefrigeranttemperatureUnit-mountedCompressor’sInverterandElectricalRequirement
Customer electrical connection for compressor motor power shall be limited to the main power lead to the
singlepointpowerconnectionlocatedintoelectricalpanel.
•TheInvertershallberefrigerantcooled.Watercooledoraircooledinvertercoolingarenotacceptable.
•Basemotorfrequencyshallpermitmotortobeutilizedatnameplatevoltage.Adjustablefrequencyrange,
monitoredbyunit’smicroprocessorcontrol,shallpermitastableunitcapacitycontroldowntominimum
capacitywithouthot-gasbypass.
•Unitdisplacementpowerfactorshallbenotlessthan0.95onentireunitcapacityrange,from100%downto
minimumcapacity.
Evaporator
(Singlecircuitunit)
Theunitsshallbeequippedwithadirectexpansionplatetoplatetypeevaporator.
•Theevaporatorwillbemadeofstainlesssteelbrazedplatesandshallbelinkedwithanelectricalheaterto
preventfreezingdownto-28°Cambienttemperature,controlledbyathermostatandshallbeinsulatedwith
flexible,closedcellpolyurethaneinsulationmaterial(20-mmthick).
•Theevaporatorwillhave1refrigerantcircuitforeachcompressor.
•ThewaterconnectionsshallbeVICTAULICtypeconnectionsasstandardtoensurequickmechanical
disconnectionbetweentheunitandthehydronicnetwork.
•TheevaporatorwillbemanufacturedinaccordancetoPEDapproval.
•Flowswitchonevaporatoravailableasoption(shippedloose).
•Waterfilterwillbestandard.

Theunitsshallbeequippedwithadirectexpansionshell&tubeevaporatorwithcoppertubesrolledintosteel
tubesheets.Theevaporatorshallbesingle-passonboththerefrigerantandwatersidesforpurecounter-flow
heatexchangeandlowrefrigerantpressuredrops.
•Theexternalshellshallbelinkedwithanelectricalheatertopreventfreezingdownto-28°Cambient
temperature,controlledbyathermostatandshallbeinsulatedwithflexible,closedcellpolyurethaneinsulation
material(20-mmthick).
•Theevaporatorwillhave2circuits,oneforeachcompressorandshallbesinglerefrigerantpass.
•ThewaterconnectionsshallbeVICTAULICtypeconnectionsasstandardtoensurequickmechanical
disconnectionbetweentheunitandthehydronicnetwork.
