5 Global Parameters
Dry/Wet
The Dry/Wet knob lets you determine the balance between the dry signal
and the reverb effect. Working with this section requires you to make a
very important distinction: Are you using WizooVerb as a send or an insert
effect?
Send: If you are using WizooVerb as a send effect, twist the Dry/Wet
knob all the way to the right to Wet. This way, WizooVerb sends the re-
verb signal only, and does not duplicate the direct signal. Use the faders
and send /return knobs on your hardware or software mixer to deter-
mine the desired effect depth.
Insert: If you are using WizooVerb as an insert effect, you can adjust
Dry/Wet freely to achieve the desired depth in the mix: The further you
twist the knob from Dry to Wet, the further the signal moves into the re-
verb room.
Width
Width determines the generated reverb’s stereo spread. Due to this knob’s
psycho-acoustical effect, it actually lets you adjust the width of the room:
Negative values: The further you twist the Width knob to the left, the
narrower the room becomes. The room seems to progressively shrink
between the two speakers.
Use narrow rooms for special effects: A narrow room is perceived a tunnel that you
can hear deeply into. Try this to clean up complex mixes comprising many rooms:
Shrink some rooms and dial in different pan/balance settings for the reverb return
signals to place them at different positions in the stereo image for a more trans-
parent mix.
Positive values: The further you twist the Width knob to the right, the
wider the room becomes. It can even appear to extend beyond the two
speakers
Ultra wide rooms can sound quite impressive, but they are best used sparingly for
short effects. Rarely do they work as a continuous reverb effect.
