Stereo and True Stereo
As a professional-class reverb, WizooVerb W2 is both Stereo and True Ste-
reo enabled. The choice is all yours—at least when using HDIR models.
HDIR Models
HDIR models are invariably available in Stereo and True Stereo versions.
The button at the top left next to the loaded HDIR model’s waveform dis-
play switches between the two modes:
[W2_Stereo_Button
Stereo: This mode provides an exact replication of the room, but the lis-
tener always localizes the sound source “center stage” within the reverb
signal. On the upside, this mode conserves computing power because only
two calculations are performed for it.
For Stereo impulse responses, the sound source is placed center stage and the signal
is recorded out of the room in stereo. This yields two mono pulse responses. The sound
source was recorded at a single position, so it can only be rendered at this one posi-
tion.
[W2_True_Stereo_Button
True Stereo: This mode also provides an exact replication, and ensures that
the listener can localize the position of the sound source within the reverb
signal. It takes four calculations to achieve this effect, so this mode re-
quires about twice as much computing power as Stereo mode.
For True Stereo impulse responses, the sound source is placed once on the left and
once on the right side of the stage and recorded out of the room in stereo. This yields
four mono pulse responses. Because this process captures the sound source’s far left
and right positions, any on-stage position between the two can be computed and ren-
dered.
