Impulse Responses
Unlike HDIR models, impulse responses are generally available in Stereo
only, and not in True Stereo. Once you have loaded an impulse response,
you will be faced with one of two scenarios:
The impulse response is available in Stereo only. In this (normal) sce-
nario, the mode button indicates Stereo mode only, and its mode
switching capability is disabled.
The impulse response is available in True Stereo. In this (rare) case, you
can use the mode button to switch between True Stereo and Stereo
modes.
One of HDIR models’ many advantages over conventional impulse re-
sponses is that they offer without exception a choice of Stereo and True Ste-
reo modes.
Input Width in Stereo Mode
In Stereo mode the left and right channels work fully independently of one
another, regardless it you are dealing with an HDIR model or an impulse
response. If you patch a mono signal into WizooVerb W2’s right input, it
will not generate reverb on the left channel and vice versa. In this event,
help comes in way of the Input section’s Width knob:
If you twist the Width knob all the way to the far left, the two input
channels are blended to create a mono signal that is sent in equal parts
to the left and right of the reverb.
This is usually the preferred choice when you send a mono signal to WizooVerb.
If you twist the Width knob to the right, you will create a cross-mix of
the two inputs. The left input is mixed in part to the right reverb chan-
nel and vice versa. The Width knob does not have to be set all the way to
the far right position to do this.
To learn more about using the Input Width knob, refer to the chapter “Glo-
bal Parameters > Input Section > Width” starting on page 34.
