dot1x auth-protocol

Use this command to specify the authentication method used for 802.1x

authentication.

dot1x auth-protocol {local | radius}

Default radius.

Command Mode Global configuration.

Usage Guideline If local is specified, a user account should be configured. Please refer to the

dot1x user command on page 205 to create new user accounts.

If radius is specified, a RADIUS server should be configured for authentication.

Please refer to the server command on page 616 in “AAA Feature

Commands” on page 1.

Example The following example shows how to specify the authentication method as

RADIUS.

Verify the settings by entering the show dot1x command on page 671.

Syntax Description

local Specifies local accounts for authentication.

radius Specifies RADIUS servers for authentication.

Switch# configure terminal

Switch(config)# dot1x auth-protocol radius
