5.5.7.3. Buttons

The Select buttons may be assigned to send one of the following types of data on any MIDI

channel or the User channel:

• Two specific values of MIDI CC data

• A specific RPN/NRPN message

• MIDI Program change / Bank Select messages

You can also specify a particular color for each button using the MIDI Control Center [p.62]. If

you choose the color blue to represent MIDI CC messages and the color green to represent

Program Changes, for example, then you'll know at a glance which button does what, even

on a darkened stage.

This rear-panel connector can receive incoming control voltages and turn them into MIDI

data that your DAW can use. The voltage range can be defined, as can the MIDI response

within that range. For more details see the the CV/Gate chapter [p.59].

5.5.8.2. Pedals

Each of the 5 pedal inputs can be set to respond to foot switches or continuously variable

pedals. The data types that can be sent are

• Switched Control: two specific MIDI CC values (toggle or gate operation)

• Program Change: MIDI Program change / Bank Select messages

• Control: MIDI Continuous Control data within a specific range

5.5.8.3. Control Voltage Outputs

These four outputs have very specific functions. We'll cover the details in the CV/Gate

chapter [p.59], so what we'll focus on here are the general concepts:

• Pitch Out: Translates MIDI note number into a control voltage

• Gate Out: Translates MIDI note on/off messages into high/low trigger voltages

• Mod 1: Translates MIDI velocity data into a control voltage by default, but another

source may be chosen

• Mod 2: Translates Modulation Wheel values into control voltages by default, but

another source may be chosen
