CHAPTER 3 INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE 7 Inspection of Timing Belt If cracks wear lengthening or other damage is found replace the timing belt Remarks Limit of elongation More than 10 mm 0 4 in deflection by pushing with your finger Replacement of timing belt Remove the parts in following order Spark plugs Recoil starter Magneto flywheel cup Exciter coil Alternator coil Turn the crank shaft and align mark on the drive pulley with the A mark on the cylinder head Remove the timing belt from the driven pulley side Install the timing belt from the drive pulley side Notes After installing the timing belt when aligning A mark on the drive pulley with A on the cylinder block please confirm that the 1 O or 2 mark on the driven pulley is aligned with the V mark on the cylinder head Always keep the timing belt away from any oil and grease 28
