ADJUSTING THE THROTTLE CABLE FREE PLAY/
CHECKING THE SPARK PLUGS
e. Turn the adjusting nut 5 in direction a
or b until the specified throttle cable free
play is obtained.
f. Tighten the locknuts.
NOTE:
If the specified throttle cable free play can-
not be obtained on the carburetor side of
the cable, use the adjusting nut on the han-
dlebar side.
g. Install the fuel tank and rider seat. Refer
to “FUEL TANK” and “SEATS AND SIDE
COVERS”.

Throttle cable free play is
decreased.
Handlebar side
a. Loosen the locknut 6.
b. Turn the adjusting nut 7 in direction c
or d until the specified throttle cable free
play is obtained.
c. Tighten the locknut.
WARNING
WARNING
After adjusting the throttle cable free play,
start the engine and turn the handlebar to
the right and to the left to ensure that this
does not cause the engine idling speed to
change.

- Starting circuit cutoff system operation if the engine stop switch is set to and the main switch is set to on both switches are closed the starter motor can only operate if at least one of the following conditions is met 398
- The starting circuit cutoff relay prevents the starter motor from operating when neither of these conditions has been met in this instance the starting circuit cutoff relay is open so current cannot reach the starter motor when at least one of the above con ditions has been met the starting circuit cut off relay is closed and the engine can be started by pressing the start switch 398
- The transmission is in neutral the neu tral switch is closed the clutch lever is pulled to the handle bar the clutch switch is closed and the sidestand is up the sidestand switch is closed 398
