DETAILED SAFETY REGULATIONS

SPECIAL CONDITIONS REGARDING SAFETY OF BENCH GRINDER OPERATION

Ɣ Closely follow the instructions from bench grinder manual;

Ɣ Do not use damaged grinding wheels;

Ɣ Use grinding wheels recommended by the manufacturer only, which are labelled to work with the speed

speciﬁed on the grinder rating plate or higher;

Ɣ Adjust spark shields often enough to compensate wear of wheel, to the smallest possible distance

between the wheel and the shield, not greater than 2 mm;

Ɣ Firmly ﬁx to the bench grinder all elements, which ensure safety;

Ɣ Do not start grinding when elements for safe operation are not installed (use shield when grinding);

Ɣ During operation use personal protection measures appropriate for used machine (glasses or anti-

splinter goggles, face shield, earmuﬀ protectors, protection half-mask, safety shoes, protective gloves

and other pieces of protective measures);

Ɣ You can proceed only with such type of grinding that the grinding wheel is designed for (consider

limitations of application, safety regulations and other information);

Ɣ Always unplug the power cord from the mains socket before commencing any activities related to

adjustment, maintenance, or grinding wheel replacement;

Ɣ Always ensure that eye shields attached to bench grinder are correctly positioned;

Ɣ When the grinder is not being used, it should be switched oﬀ. Never leave the grinder unattended if it

is not switched oﬀ and the plug is not removed from mains socket. Never leave the grinder unattended

before complete stop of grinding wheels;

Ɣ Do not use grinding wheels with maximum rotational speed below 2850 rpm;

Ɣ Persons below 18 years old cannot use the bench grinder;

Ɣ Do not leave cloths, pieces of garment, ropes, cords and other similar objects in proximity of the bench

grinder;

Ɣ Whenever operator is being addressed to, prior to leaving the tool the current operation must be ﬁnished

and then the tool must be switched oﬀ;

Ɣ From time to time ensure that all nuts, bolts and other ﬁxing elements are properly fastened and

secured;

Ɣ Do not over-tighten nuts that ﬁx grinding wheels;

Ɣ Do not use grinding wheel that was hit, especially side surface;

Ɣ Replace wheel that is cracked or is suspected to be damaged;

Ɣ After installation of new grinding wheel always allow it to rotate for few minutes at full rotational speed

prior to operation. Whenever the grinder is switched on, its operator should stand at side of it;

Ɣ Prior to every start up of the grinder ensure the grinding wheels can rotate freely;

Ɣ Do not use the grinder until all shields are ﬁxed and secured in appropriate way;

Ɣ Prior to starting operation ensure that tool supports are appropriately set;

Ɣ Do not overload the bench grinder. Allow the bench grinder to work at full rotational speed or at speed

close to maximum;

Ɣ Never apply excessive pressure on grinding wheel. It may crack, that may injure the operator;

Ɣ Do not use the bench grinder for cutting;

Ɣ Prior to starting the grinder ensure the grinding wheel has no contact with processed material;

Ɣ For wheel dressing and cleaning use only the tools designed for such purpose;

CAUTION! This device is designed to operate indoors.

The design is assumed to be safe, protection measures and additional safety systems are used,

nevertheless there is always a small risk of operational injuries.
