GRINDING
Before using the bench grinder ensure the eye shields (1) and (2) and workrests (8) are installed
and properly adjusted, and that operator uses personal protection measures for eyes, hearing and
respiratory system protection.
Ɣ Never use wheels or brushes with larger diameter than maximum allowable.
Ɣ Grinding wheel is an element of the bench grinder equipment, which is very susceptible to damages
and impacts. Check the grinding wheel or brush before use, do not use brushes and wheels with dents,
cracks, excessively worn or otherwise damaged.
Ɣ It is important not to overload the grinder during operation. The grinder should operate at speeds close
to its maximum speed. In case of excessive pressure to grinding wheel, the grinder slows down. You
should remove the processed material from the grinding wheel and wait until the grinder reaches its
maximum speed. Only then you can proceed with the task, with lower pressure applied to the wheel.
Ɣ The bench grinder is supplied with grinding wheels and brushes designed for steel processing only.
Grinding of copper, brass, aluminium, wood or other, similar materials, will introduce fouling to grinding
wheel.
Disconnect the power tool from power supply.
Ɣ Rotate the grinding wheel (3) by hand to ensure it has no contact with the shield and is free to rotate.
Ɣ Stand aside and switch on the grinder by pressing the switch button (7), wait until the motor reaches its
maximum rotational speed.
Ɣ Press the processed material against the workrest (8) and close it to the grinding wheel. Use pliers to
hold small pieces.
Ɣ If the grinding causes considerable loss of motor speed, move the material away from the wheel and
allow the motor to reach its maximum speed again, then proceed with grinding using lower pressure of
material against the grinding wheel.
When grinding use only front surface of the grinding wheel, never lateral. Remember that processed
material may heat up very much. It may be necessary to cool the material by immersing it in coolant
or water. Do not cool the grinding wheel with coolant or water. As the grinding wheel wears out
readjust the workrest so the distance between its edge and the wheel is not greater than 1.5 mm.
Ensure the object to be processed does not fall out of your hands and does not jam between the
workrest and the wheel. It may cause the grinding wheel to crack or personal injuries.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Always switch o the grinder with switch button and unplug the power cord from the mains socket
before commencing any activities related to adjustment or maintenance.
When moving or replacing the grinding wheel or brush always wear protective gloves, because grinding
discs are very abrasive. When replacement of power supply cord is necessary, this operation should be
conducted by an authorized service workshop to avoid any potential risk of electric shock.
GRINDING WHEEL CLEANING
Cleaning a grinding wheel also levels front surface. It improves working efficiency and prevents vibrations.
Ɣ Take wheel dresser (13) (g. F).
Ɣ Press the wheel dresser (13) on the workrest (8), at approximately 5 mm distance from grinding wheel.
Ɣ Start the motor and allow it to reach its maximum speed.
Ɣ Hold the wheel dresser the way it is shown on g. F.
Ɣ Slowly move the dresser towards the wheel and slide it across the wheel width as many times as it is
necessary to flatten the wheel surface.
Ɣ Adjust the workrest (8) so it is positioned at a distance of 1 – 1.5 mm from the wheel surface.
Do not allow the wheel dresser to touch the grinding wheel before reaching top rotational speed,
because it can kick back, be torn out of hand and cause serious body injury. Do not press the wheel
dresser harder to atten the wheel surface with one passage only.
