OTHER FUNCTIONS Hailer operation The IC M127 has a 2 way hailer function for voice amplifica O Preparation tion and reception over the loudspeaker making it unneces Connect an external speaker as illustrated on p 32 sary to leave the bridge to hear a hailing party When you need to have more power up to 20 W connect an optional UA 4 AUDIO AMPLIFIER p 35 INT IU HP IL L5TN IC NT IU HPIL TPLK O Operation Turn the transceiver power ON The UA 4 is turned ON automatically if connected Push HL IC once HRIL L 5 TN appears Push and hold the PTT switch on the microphone and speak at a normal voice level into the microphone HRIL TRLH appears To adjust the hailer level rotate the channel selector while PTT is pushed HR IL Ll L appears After releasing the PTT switch you can hear the response through the hailer speaker HRIL L J TN appears The external speaker emits your amplified voice and receives an answer from another vessel Transmitting is impossible during hailer operation When a radio signal is received the S meter shows signal To return to normal operation push HL IC twice Other switches also turn the function OFF however the corre sponding function activates e g pushing 16 selects channel 16 strength 21
