STANDARDS OF USE
NOTE - The machine can be supplied with some of the
components already fitted.
WARNING - Unpacking and completing the assembly
should be done on a flat and stable surface, with enough
space for machine handling and its packaging, always
making use of suitable equipment.
Disposal of the packaging should be done in accordance
with the local regulations in force.
Models with crossing lever switch:
Widen both ends of upper part of the handle (1) in order to fit
the rod (2) and cable hook (3) in place.
“I” type handle
Move the handle’s lower part (1), already preassembled, to the
working position, making sure the two nuts (3) are correctly
inserted in the openings on the two side chassis supports (4).
Attach the upper part (2) and tighten the handle’s two parts
with the upper clamps (5) (previously removed from their holes).
The washers (9) on the handles (5) must be mounted so they
keep the top part (2) firmly fixed to the lower section of the
handle (1), without too much effort required to tighten or
release them.
Move the handle’s grip to the desired height and block the
lower clamps (6).
Fit the cable clamps (7) as shown.
The correct position of the electric cable hook (8) is as shown.
“II” type handle
Move the lower part (1) of the handle to the working position
and secure it by tightening the knobs (2) and the screws sup-
plied (3), making sure the screwheads are correctly inserted in
the openings on the side chassis supports (4).
Attach the upper part (5) using the knobs (6) and screws sup-
plied (7), as shown.
Fit the cable clamps (8) as shown.
The correct position of the electric cable hook (9) is as shown.
Loosening the lower knobs (2), the handle’s grip can be moved
to the desired height.
The engine is controlled by a dual action switch to pre-
vent starting it accidentally. To start, press the button (2) and
pull the lever (1). The engine automatically stops when the
lever (1) is released.
The cutting height is adjusted using the levers (1).
The four wheels must be at the same height.
MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT ONLY WHEN THE BLADE IS
STOPPED.
In power-driven models, draw the lever (1) towards the
handle for forward movement.
The lawnmower stops moving forward when the lever is
released.
NOTE - This machine cuts lawns in various modes; before
starting work, prepare the machine based on how the lawn is
to be mowed.
MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF.
Preparation for grass cutting and collection in
grass-catcher:
– Lift the rear stone-guard (1) and correctly hook the rigid
grass-catcher (2) or the cloth grass-catcher (3) as shown in
the figures.

Preparation for grass cutting and rear discharge:
In models with side discharge potential: make sure the side
door (4) is lowered.
Preparation for grass cutting and mulching (if pres-
ent):
In models with side discharge potential: make sure the side
door (4) is lowered.
Lift the rear stone-guard (1) and fit the deflector cap (5) in the
outlet, keeping it slightly tilted to the right. Fasten it by fitting
the two pins (6) into the holes provided until the fastener
tooth clicks into place (7).
To remove the deflector cap (5), lift the stone-guard (1) and
press down on the centre until the tooth (7) is released.
Preparation for grass cutting and side discharge
(if applicable):
Lift the rear stone-guard (1) and fit the deflector cap (5) in the
outlet, keeping it slightly tilted to the right. Fasten it by fitting
the two pins (6) into the holes provided until the fastener
tooth clicks into place (7).
Insert the discharge deflector (8) as shown in the figure.
Close the side door (4) so that the deflector (8) is locked in
place.
To remove the deflector cap (5), lift the stone-guard (1) and
press down on the centre until the tooth (7) is released.
Connect the extension cable correctly as indicated.
Start the engine by pressing the safety push-button (2) and
pulling the switchgear lever (1).
While cutting, ensure that the electric cable is always
behind you and on the area of grass already cut.
In case of “mulching”: always avoid removing a large quan-
tity of grass. Never cut more than one third the total grass
height in a single passage! Regulate the forward speed ac-
cording to the lawn conditions and the amount of grass re-
moved.
For side discharge (if applicable): it is best to mow in a
direction where cut grass is not discharged on the grass still
to be cut.
LAWN CARE RECOMENDATIONS
Each type of grass has different features and may thus require
different ways to care for the lawn; always read the instructions
on seed boxes for mowing height for the growth conditions in
the work area.
Keep in mind that most grass is made up of a stem and one or
more leaves. If leaves are fully cut, the lawn is damaged and
growth is more difficult.
The following indications generally apply:
too low a cut causes grass tears and uprooting, with a “spot-
ted” aspect;
in the summer, cutting must be higher to avoid the ground
from drying;
do not cut wet grass; this could reduce blade efficiency due
to sticky grass and tear the lawn;
for particularly high grass, initially mow at maximum admit-
ted machine height followed by a second mow after two or
three days.
The appearance of the lawn will improve if you alternate the
cutting in both directions at the same height.
When you have finishing mowing, release the lever (1).
FIRST disconnect the cable extension from the supply socket
(2) and THEN from the side of the lawnmower’s switchgear (3).
WAIT FOR THE BLADE TO STOP before carrying out any type
of work on the machine.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Should the motor stop during use through overheating, wait
about 5 minutes before re-starting.
