Intermediate flange - stripping down and assembling
Slacken
offthe
retaining screws
forthestop
plate and
take off the bearing plate.
Take
outthe
cup spring.
Heat the intermediate flange to 1 00-120°C and pull out the
ball bearing with
BMW
internal puller 00 8 570.
Take
outthe
circlip with pliers.
Shaft sealing ring - removing
Engine installed
The alternator and driver have been removed.
Pull out the shaft sealing ring with
BMW
internal puller
00 5 010 and the sma
ll
thrust block from BMW universal
puller 00 7 500.
Engine removed
Lever out the shaft sealing ring with a screwdriverthat has
been ground to a round end.
Pull out the spacer sleeves.
Drive in the
new
spacer sleeves (1) with a suitable arbor.
When installing:
Note projecting dimension X = 7 - 0.5 mm.
Insert circlip (1) with pliers.
Heatthe
intermediate !lange to app. 100°C and press in
ball bearing (2). Insert cup spring (3).
Note:
Note installed position (Y).
Clean Loctite from the threaded holes in the intermediate
flange and also from the retaining screw threads.
Install stop plale (4) wilh bolls and Lo
cl
il
e 242.
Drive in shaft sealing ring (5) with
BMW
arbor

1 620
and handle
00
5 500 until
il
is flush.
Tightening torque:
Relaining bolts:
9±1Nm
