36 Shift Operation Take out the mounting screws and remove the positioning plate b Set Lever Spring Replace the spring if it is weak or damaged as such a spring will not hold the set lever against the pins and will reduce the stability of the drum 4 Assembly Assembly is the reverse of disassembly Be sure that al springs are installed correctly NOTE Return spring pin If this pin loosens the shift lever will not trave the correct distance Lock the pin securely i place with the lock nut 3 Overhaul a Return Spring Check the spring tension and replace the spring if it is weak or damaged a bad spring will not return the shift pedal 2 Positioning plate To prevent the positioning plate from loosenin and allowing drum movement along the sha punch the head of the mounting screw aft tightening it
