3. Set the gear control to neutral (N).
4. Starting cold engine – put the throttle control in
the choke position.
Starting warm engine – set the throttle control
to full throttle (approx. 2 cm behind the choke
position).
5. Depress the clutch – brake pedal fully.
6. Turn the ignition key and start the engine.
7. Once the engine has started, move the throttle
control gradually to full throttle (approx. 2 cm
behind the choke position) if the choke has been
used.
8. When starting from cold, do not make the ma-
chine work under load immediately, but let the
engine run for a few minutes first. This will al-
low the oil to warm up.
5.5.2 Starting driving
The machine must not be
driven in any direction on
slopes with a gradient
greater than 10º.
See fig. 11.
Always operate the ma-
chine at full throttle when driving.
1. Depress the clutch – brake pedal fully.
2. Engage the desired gear.
3. Slowly release the clutch-brake pedal fully and
the machine starts to move in the desired direc-
tion.
4. Engage the cutting deck.
5.5.3 Driving tips
Ensure that the correct amount of oil is in the en-
gine. Especially when driving on slopes. See 5.3.
Be careful when driving on slopes. No
sudden starting or stopping when mov-
ing up or down a slope. Never drive
across a slope. Move from the top down,
or from the bottom to the top.
Reduce the speed on slopes and when
making sharp turns to prevent the ma-
chine from tipping over or you losing
control.
Do not turn the steering wheel to full
lock when driving in top gear and at full
throttle. The machine can easily topple
over.
Never drive with the engine casing
open.
Never drive with the deck connected in
the transport position. This will damage
the deck’s drive belt.
5.6 CUTTING
5.6.1 Cutting height
The best cutting results are achieved when the
when the top third of the grass is cut off. I.e. 2/3 of
the length of the grass remains.
If the grass is long and has to be cut significantly,
cut twice using different cutting heights.
Do not use the lowest cutting heights if the lawn
surface is uneven. This would entail a risk of the
blades being damaged against the surface and the
lawn’s top layer of soil being removed.
5.6.2 Composting/rear ejection
The deck can cut grass in two ways:
Compost the grass into the lawn.
Eject the grass behind the deck.
The deck is set for composting on delivery. In or-
der to eject the grass behind the deck, the plug
(16:P) must be removed.
See “6.16.2” and “6.16.3” on how to dismantle and
assemble the cutting deck.
5.6.3 Mowing advice
In order to achieve optimum mowing results, fol-
low the advice below:
Cut frequently.
Run the engine at full throttle.
The grass should be dry.
Use sharp blades.
Keep the underside of the cutting deck clean.
5.7 STOP
If the machine is left unattended, re-
move the ignition key.
The engine may be very warm immedi-
ately after it is shut off. Do not touch the
silencer, cylinder or cooling fins. This
can cause burn injuries.
1. Depress the clutch – brake pedal fully.
2. Set the gear control to neutral (N).
3. Disengage the cutting deck.
4. Allow the engine to idle 1 - 2 minutes. Then
turn the ignition key to the stop position so that
the engine stops.
5. Lock the parking brake.
