INSPECTION/REFACING
CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
The
valves
cannot
be ground.
If
a
valve face is
burned
or
badly
worn
or if it con-
tact
s theseat
unevenly, replace
the valve.
Clean
the
intak
e and exha ust valves th
or
ough ly to
remove car
bon
deposits.
Apply
a
light
coating
of
Prussian Blue to the
valve
seats
.
Tap
the
valves
and
seats us
ing
a rubber
hose
or
othe
r
hand-l
appi
ng
tool.
Remove
the
valve
and
inspect the valve seat face .
Inspect the valve seat face for:
U
neven
seat w
idt
h:
- Replace the valve and reface th e valve seat.
Damaged face:
- Replace
the
valve
and
reface
the
valve
seat.
Contact
area (too
high
or
too
low
)
- Reface
the
valve
seat.
The
valve
seat
contact
should
be
wi
thin
the
specif
ied
width
and
even
all
aro
und the c
irc
u
mfe
rence.
