Ifthetimesetonthe“Turnoffmonitor”timerintheoperatingsystemexpires,
theLCDbacklightturnsoff.YoucanalsoturnofftheLCDbacklightbypressing
F9 .
Toendscreenblankstateandresumenormaloperation,pressF9 .
Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it down
Whenyouhavefinishedworkingwithyourcomputer,youcanputittosleepor
shutitdown.
Putting your computer to sleep
Ifyouwillbeawayfromyourcomputerforonlyashorttime,putthecomputer
tosleep.Whenthecomputerisinsleepmode,youcanquicklywakeittoresume
use,bypassingthestartupprocess.Toputthecomputertosleep:
• FortheWindows7operatingsystem:
– ClickStart Sleep.
• FortheWindows8operatingsystem:
– Openthecharmsbar,thenselectSettings Power
Sleep.
Attention:Waituntilthepowerindicatorlightstartsblinking(indicatingthat
thecomputerisinsleepmode)beforeyoumoveyourcomputer.Movingyour
computerwhiletheharddiskisspinningcandamagetheharddisk,causingloss
ofdata.
Towakethecomputer,dooneofthefollowing:
• Pressanykeyonthekeyboard.
• Pressthepowerbutton.
