• Uplink cards to the active Gigabit Ethernet backbone network.
• GPON line cards to the Optical Network Unit (ONU).
• GE line cards to active fiber devices such as chassis-based and standalone MDUs.
Duplex optical fiber cable with LC (Lucent Connector) connectors carries upstream and downstream
traffic between the uplink card card and the active Gigabit Ethernet network. The following figure
shows a duplex fiber optic cable with LC connectors.
