5 Copy and paste the results into a text editor to create a list of all the executable commands in
configure mode and the other sub modes such as the config-vlan mode.
4.4.1 Entering Partial Commands
A command can be abbreviated to the smallest unique string that differentiates it from other
commands. For example, abbreviate the “show lc status” command to sh lc st.
Enter a unique part of a command and press
[TAB] to have the OLT automatically display the full
command. For example, if you enter con and press
[TAB] , the full command of configure
automatically displays. If you enter a partial command that is not unique and press
[TAB] the OLT
displays a list of commands that start with the partial command, as shown next.
4.5 Document Command Syntax Conventions
Command descriptions in this guide follow these conventions:
• Commands are in
courier new font.
• Required input values are in angle brackets <>; for example,
ping <ip> means that you must
specify an IP address for this command.
• In some commands you specify slots or interfaces by the Access ID <aid>, use “?” to show which
types of interfaces you can specify. For example, you might be able to use: slot-<slot> |
<ge|xe>-<slot>-<port> | <ge|xe>-<slot>-<port>&&-<port>.
• Use “ge” for a Gigabit Ethernet port or switch settings on a PON interface. Use “xe” for an
uplink port.
• Use “pon” to configure PON interface settings.
• A “slot” is a chassis slot.
• The “port” is 1-N where N is the number of ports on the card.
• Use && to specify a range of ports.
