Classification mode
In this mode each port automatic determines how much power to reserve according to the class the connected PD belongs
to, and reserves the power accordingly. Three different port classes exist and one for 4, 7 and 15.4 Watts.
Class Usage Range of maximum power used by the PD
0 Default 0.44 to 12.95 Watts
1 Optional 0.44 to 3.84 Watts
2 Optional 3.84 to 6.49 Watts
3 Optional 6.49 to 12.95 Watts (or to 15.4Watts)
4 Not Allowed Reserved for Future Use
In this mode the Maximum Power fields have no effect.
Allocation mode
In this mode the user allocates the amount of power that each port may reserve. The allocated/reserved power for each
port/PD is specified in the Maximum Power fields. The ports are shut down when total reserved powered exceeds the
amount of power that the power supply can deliver.
In this mode the port power is not turned on if the PD requests more power the available.
Auto mode
The Power Management function will automatically select the mode of operation, according to the following sequence:
z Port class, if available
z Power allocation, if available
z Port power consumption.
Consumption
In this mode the ports are shut down when the actual power consumption for all ports exceeds the amount of power that the
power supply can deliver or if the actual power consumption for a given port exceeds the reserved power for that port. The
ports are shut down according to the ports priority. If two ports have the same priority the port with the highest port number
is shut down.
Priority mode
In this mode the user assign the priority to the ports/PD. When the total PoE power consumption request is over the allowed
power supply limitation, the system shut down PoE ports by port priority setting.
