to be emptied and the appliance tho-
roughly cleaned, incl. the brewing unit.
Proceed as follows:
0 Switch the coffee machine off using
the On/Off button (Figure 11) (do not
pull the power lead out) and wait until
the display switches off!
0 Unfasten and open the service door by
pressing the appropriate knob (Figure
35).
0 Take out and clean the drip tray and
waste coffee container (Figure 36).
0 Press on the two red locking buttons
on the side of the brewing unit and
towards the centre (Figure 38) and pull
the brewing unit out.
3
Attention: The brewing unit can only
be taken out when the appliance is
switched off using the On/Off button
at the front of the appliance. The
appliance should not be disconnected
from the mains. If you try to take out
the brewing unit whilst the coffee
machine is switched on, this could be
seriously damaged.
0 Clean the brewing unit under running
tap water without using detergent.
Never clean the brewing unit in the
dishwasher.
0 Carefully clean the inside of the
machine. Scrape off the encrusted cof-
fee in the coffee machine using a
wooden or plastic fork or something
similar that will not scratch the finish
(Figure 39) and then remove all the
remains with a vacuum cleaner (Figure
40).
0 To replace, push the brewing unit (Fig-
ure 42, a) into the holder (Figure 42, b)
and the pin (Figure 42, c). The pin must
be introduced into the tube (Figure 42,
d) at the bottom of the brewing unit.
0 Now push firmly where it says PUSH
(Figure 42, e) until the brewing unit is
heard fastening into place.
0 Once you have heard the unit clicking
into position, make sure that the red
buttons (Figure 42, f) have snapped
back out, otherwise the service door
cannot be closed.
Figure 43: The two red buttons are cor-
rectly snapped out.
Figure 44: The two red buttons are not
snapped out.
0 Put the drip tray back in place together
with the waste coffee container.
0 Shut the service door.
3
If the brewing unit is not put in place
correctly, i.e. if it can be heard clicking
into position and the red buttons are
not properly snapped back out, the
service hatch cannot be closed.
3
If the brewing unit can only be put
into place with difficulty, it must be
made into the right height (before
inserting) by pressing the brewing unit
firmly together from top and bottom,
as shown in Figure 41.
3
If it is still difficult to insert the brew-
ing unit, shut the service door, pull the
plug off the power lead out of the
socket and put it back in again.
Wait until the display switches off,
then open the service door and put the
brewing unit back in place.
14.6 Carrying out the descaling
programme
The descaling programme enables your
appliance to be simply and effectively
descaled. When advised to do so by the
display «DESCALE», the appliance
must be descaled.
1
Attention: Under no circumstances
should you use any descaling products
that are not recommended by Elec-
trolux. If different descaling products
are used, Electrolux assumes no liability
for any damage. Descaling fluid can be
bought at specialist shops or from the
Electrolux helpline.
3
The descaling procedure takes approx.
45 minutes and should not be
interrupted. If there is a power failure,
the programme must be restarted.
