FINAL DRIVE 1 Wheel Alignment Inspection Set the motorcycle up on its center stand Check to see if wheel alignment is properly adjusted The left and right notches on the chain adjuster should point to the same marks or positions on the swing arm If they do not adjust the wheel alignment WARNING j O f the axle and torque link nuts are not secur tightened and the cotter pin is not installed an uns riding condition may result Check the rear brake see the Brakes section Drive Chain Wear Inspection A Notch B Marks C Swing Arm D Chain Adjuster NOTE Wheel alignment can also be checked using the straight edge or string method Rotate the rear wheel to inspect the drive chain damaged rollers and loose pins and links Also inspect the sprockets for unevenly or excessive worn teeth and damaged teeth If there is any irregularity replace the drive chain a both sprockets Stretch the chain taut hanging a 98 N 10 kg 20 weighton the chain Measure the length of 20 links on the straight part the chain from pin center of the 1st pin to pin cen of the 21st pin Since the chain may wear uneven take measurements at several places WARNING Misalignment of the wheel will result in abnormal wear and may result in an unsafe riding condition Wheel Alignment Adjustment Loosen the torque link nut Loosen the left and right chain adjusting bolt locknuts Remove the axle cotter pin and loosen the axle nut Turn the chain adjusting bolts so that their notches point to the same marks or positions on the swing arm on both side Inspect the chain slack Tighten the axle nut loosely and tighten both chain adjusting bolts but not enough to change the adjustment and then tighten both locknut securely Tighten the axle nut and torque link nut to the specified torque sec Exploded View Rotate the wheel measure the chain slack again at the tightest position and readjust if necessary Insert the new cotter pin through the axle nut and axle and spread its end 1st 2nd 3rd 1 Weight 2 Measure this length 3 Measure 4 20 link length 20th 21 st
