7-14 ENGINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM

Oil Pump

•

Pull the pin [A] out of the pump shaft.

•

Pull the oil pump shaft [B] out of the body.

•

Remove the washer.

Oil Pump Assembly

•

Assembly of the oil pump is the reverse of disassembly.

•

Before installing the oil pump, be sure the shaft and rotors

turn freely.

Oil Screen Cle aning and Inspection

•

Clean the oil pump screen with high flash-point solvent

and remove any particles stuck to it.

WARNING

Clean the screen in a well-ventilated area, and take

care that there is no spark or flame anywhere near

the working area. Because of the danger of highly

flammable liquids, do not use gasoline or low flash

point solvents.

NOTE

○

While cleaning the screen, check for any metal particles

that might indicate internal engine damage.

•

Check the screen carefully for any damage: holes and

broken wires.

If the screen is damaged, replace the oil screen assembly.
