20. MIDI Dump
19. MIDI Channel
1-16
Select the MIDI channel that the unit is assigned to (standard MIDI channels 1
through 16 are available). In order to communicate effectively with other
Omnidrives connected on the same MIDI network all units that require
synchronisation for program changes and control must be on the same MIDI
channel.
Alternatively, an easy way to prevent an Omnidrive connected via MIDI from
accepting unnecessary program changes or control data is, to change its MIDI
channel setting to a channel other than the one that the controlling Omnidrive
is set to.
This mode allows you to send (dump) the current program settings to another
FDS-366T, or a MIDI storage device, e.g. a computer or MIDI data filer, for
backup. If you are using the MIDI Dump facility to transfer data to another
FDS-366T, ensure that both devices are set to the same MIDI channel, and
connect the MIDI OUT of the sending device to the MIDI IN of the receiving
device. The MIDI Dump functionality is unaffected by the MIDI MODE setting.
To perform this operation:
From the MIDI DUMP option in the Utilities, turn the rotary encoder
clockwise, or press the > navipad key to access the MIDI DUMP mode
Press ENTER to confirm the operation. A percentage complete figure will
show how much data has been transferred. When the dump is complete,
the screen returns to the Utilities menu.
NOTE: All parameter edits in all stored programs will be overwritten in any
connected FDS-366T set to the same MIDI channel. Use MIDI Dump with
care! This can also apply to other models, e.g. Minidrives, in this case units
connected and set to the same channel may operate erroneously.
