BSS 366T OmniDrive [83/112] Outputs limiter

BSS 366T OmniDrive [83/112] Outputs limiter

FDS-366T
Outputs - Limiter
Over (Overshoot)
Rel (Release)
Atk (Attack)
Thr (Threshold)
"On" or "Off"
When the limiters are turned 'Off', the red 'OVER' indicator on the front panel
meters will illuminate as a warning.
NOTE: BSS Audio cannot accept any liability for any damage caused by
disabling the protective limiters in the FDS-366T. This function is used totally
at the discretion of the user.
To enable the limiter switch the Limiter parameter to "On".
"0dB" to "12dB" in 1dB steps and "Off"
Specifies the brickwall limit as the absolute maximum signal level which will
be allowed to pass above the limiter threshold level. Lower settings will
provide the most protection, but can cause short-term distortion to be added on
transients. Higher settings reduce the severity of this distortion at the expense
of protection. The brickwall limiter can be switched "Off" if not required,
although for most purposes it is recommended that it is employed to prevent
possible damaging of speaker drivers by large transients, such as power surge
breakthroughs.
"-10dBu" to "+20dBu" in 0.1dBu steps
The band limiter threshold can be adjusted by turning the rotary encoder to set
the desired value to match the sensitivity of the amplifier in use. The default
units are dBu, but can be changed to mV in the "Limiter Units" found in the
Utilities.
! BSS Audio recommends setting the limiter thresholds below the
amplifier clipping sensitivity by about 2dB. This prevents any transient
overshoot driving the amplifier into clip and so damaging your
loudspeakers. Even when limiters are disabled, the threshold setting
determines the output meter sensitivity.
"Slow", "Med", "Fast" and "Dual"
Sets the time taken to reduce the gain after the output signal level has risen
above the threshold level.
The "Dual" mode makes use of two sets of time constants simultaneously. The
fast time constants prevent clipping, while the long time constants are intended
to keep thermal affects under control.
"Slow", "Med" and "Fast"
Determines the time taken to recover normal gain after the output signal level
has fallen below the threshold level.
