FDS-366T
Note for older FDS-366 Omnidrives
Older FDS-366 units are wired slightly differently with pin 1 being the unit
ground. As the +5v bias is not connected in these units it is not possible to set
up biasing for them. Biasing may still be applied by a newer unit in the
network.
Program changes, full memory dumps and synchronous control are all possible
in a multidrop network of FDS-366Ts using RS485. As before for the MIDI
networks, one unit must be set as the 'Master', the other units are set to
'Multidrop' mode however, in this network any of the units can be used as the
master, giving more flexibility for programming. Once again particular units
can be addressed by using the MIDI channels (up to 16 possible assignments)
to enable/disable communication between the master unit and slaves. This
method can be used for example to perform a MIDI Dump between several
units without affecting others.
Some of the older MIDI only BSS products can be connected (within Midi's
distance capability) but, only by connecting single units to those on the RS485
multidrop network, as shown below. These units will be capable of accepting
program changes but must be switched to a different MIDI channel if a MIDI
dump is sent from the master FDS-366T.
