Clutch Lev er and Cable

Due to friction plate wear and clutch cable stretch over

a long period of use, the clutch must be adjusted in accor-

dance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart.

WARNING

To avoid a serious burn, never touch the hot engine

or exhaust chamber during clutch adjustment.

Clutch Lever Free Play Inspection

Refer to the Clutch Lever Free Play Check in Periodic

Maintenance chapter.

Clutch Lever Free Play Adjustment

Refer to the Clutch Lever Free Play Adjustment in the

Periodic Maintenance chapter.

Clutch Lever Installation

•

Set the clutch lever [A] mating surface [B] to the punch

mark [C] of the handlebar [D].

Clutch Cable Removal

•

Turn in the adjuster fully [A].

•

Slide t he dust cover [A] out of place.

•

Loosen the knurled locknut [B] at the clutch lever, and

screw in the adjuster [C].

•

Line up the slots [D] in the clutch lever, locknut, and ad-

juster and then free the cable from the lever.
