Oil Pressure

Oil Pressure Measurement

•

Remove the oil drain plug (for oil filter oil chamber) [A].

•

Attach the oil pressure gauge adapter [A].

•

Attach the oil pressure gauge [B].

Special Tools - Oil Pressure Gauge Adapter: 57001–1579

Oil Pressure Gauge: 57001–125

•

Start the engine and warm up the engine thoroughly.

•

Run the engine at the specified speed, and read the oil

pressure gauge.

If the oil pressure is much lower than the standard, check

the feed oil pum p.

If the reading is much higher than the standard, check the

oil f ilter first, and oil passages for dirt or clogging.

Oil Pump Pressure (oil temperature 90°C, @4 000 rpm)

Standard: 19.6 kPa (0.2 kgf/cm², 2.8 psi)

NOTE

○

Warm up the engine thoroughly before measuring the

oil pressure.

•

Stop the engine and remove the gauge and the oil pres-

sure gauge adapter.

WARNING

Take care against burns from hot engine oil that will

drain through the oil passage when the oil pressure

gauge adapter is removed.

•

Install the oil drain plug (see Engine Lubrication System

in the Periodic maintenance chapter).
