Primary Gear

Primary Gear Removal

•

Remove:

Right Engine Cover

•

Removetheclutch(seeClutchRemoval).

•

Temporarily install the clutch housing [A].

•

Using the gear holder [B], secure the primary gear.

Special Tool - Gear Holder: 57001–1557

•

Remove the clutch housing.

•

Remove the primary gear nut [C], w asher, and the primary

gear [D].

○

Primary gear nut is left-hand threads.

Primary Gear Installation

•

Apply high-temperature grease to the oil seal lip.

•

Insert the primary gear [A] to t he crankshaft.

•

Install:

Washer [B]

Primary Gear Nut [C]

•

Using the gear holder [A], secure the clutch gear and the

bottom of the primary gear; then, tighten the primary gear

nut [B].

○

Primary gear nut is left-hand threads.

Torque - Primary Gear Nut: 98 N·m (10.0 kgf·m, 72 ft·lb)

Special Tool - Gear Holder: 57001–1557
