Rocker Arm and Shaft Inspection

•

Inspect the area [A] on the rocker arm where the cam

rubs.

If the rocker arm is scored, discolored or otherwise dam-

aged, replace it. Also inspect the camshaft lobes.

•

Inspect the end of the valve clearance adjusting screw [B]

where i t contacts the valve stem.

If the end of the adjusting screw is mushroomed or dam-

aged in any way, or if the screw will not turn smoothly,

replace it. Also inspect the end of the valve stem.

•

Measure the inside diameter [C] of the rocker arm with a

dial bore gauge.

If the rocker arm inside diameter is larger than the service

limit, replace it. Also check the rocker shaft diameter [D].

Rocker Arm Inside Diameter

Standard:

13.000 ∼ 13.018 mm

(0.511 8 ∼ 0.5125 in.)

Service Limit: 13.05 mm (0.514 in.)

•

Measure the diameter of the rocker shaft where the rocker

armpivotsonitwithamicrometer.

If the rocker shaft diameter is s maller than the service

limit, replace it.

Rocker Shaft D iameter

Standard:

12.976 ∼ 12.994 mm

(0.5109 ∼ 0.5116 in.)

Service Limit: 12.95 mm (0.510 in.)
