TheWirelessDistributionSystem(WDS)‐ManagedAPfeatureallowsyoutoaddmanagedAPstothecluster

usingover‐the‐airWDSlinksthroughothermanagedAPs.WithWDS,APsmaybelocatedoutdoor swhere

wiredconnectiontothedatanetworkisunavailable,orinremotebuildingsthatarenotconnectedtothema

in

campuswithawirednetwork.

TheWDSAPgroupconsistsofthefollowingmanagedAPs:

•RootAP—Actsasabridgeorrepeateronthewirelessmediumandcommunicateswiththeswitchviathe

wiredlink

• SatelliteAP—CommunicateswiththeswitchviaaWDSlinktothero

otAP

TheWDSlinksaresecuredusingWPA2PersonalauthenticationandAESencryption.
